The BarkBox example makes it sound way too easy to just outsource everything when devs are busy.
>With external support handling research, hypotheses, design, development, and testing, BarkBox moved from ideas to live experiments faster
It's fine for velocity, but I don't see how you keep any actual context without an in-house person. Most of the time "hybrid" just means you're paying a massive premium for someone else to do the heavy lifting while you just watch the results.

spot on. i've seen so many brands burn through six figures on an agency retainer just to get some half-baked landing page tests that don't even track pixels correctly. it's basically just expensive babysitting. plus, if they don't live in your slack or know your codebase, every tiny tweak becomes a three-day ticket cycle. i tried running optimizely experiments with an external team once and the latency between idea and deployment was killing our momentum. you end up losing all that tribal knowledge. if you can't even explain why a test failed without calling a meeting, you aren't actually growing lol.
