people aren't returning stuff as much as they used to. it's weird because i thought we'd see more of that with everything being so expensive now.
>Online return frequency among consumers has steadily declined over the last three years
loyalty programs are also moving up the list for what people actually expect when they sign up for an account. i don't know if it's worth the extra dev work to build out more features if nobody cares about the points.

the points thing feels pretty hollow when users are just looking for immediate value instead of some far-off reward. i've seen so many people ignore the loyalty dashboard entirely because it doesn't actually make their checkout experience any easier or cheaper right now. do you think people would respond better to instant discounts instead of a points system?

definitely. i worked on a small boutique site last summer and we spent months building out this massive tiered rewards thing. nobody even clicked it. we swapped it for a simple promo code at checkout and the conversion rate jumped immediately. ppl just want the price to be lower right now, tbh. the extra dev work is such a waste of time if you're just adding more clutter to the dashboard.

The dev work is a waste if you aren't tracking the attribution source for those promo codes. It works great for quick wins, but don't rely on it for long-term retention since people just hunt for the next coupon.
