saw this while trying to fix a broken campaign for a client. they're basically handing over the keys to Adobe GenStudio so they can automate social content and stuff. it's wild how much they're leaning into that "agentic AI" thing to target the younger crowd. honestly, seeing them use adobe firefly for fan-made images sounds like a recipe for absolute disaster. i had a client try something similar with generative tools last month and it was a total mess of weird fingers and warped logos. ngl, i don't see how they're going to keep the branding from looking totally generic if everything is just automated through cx enterprise.

the weird fingers thing is way too real. i saw a brand try to scale their ad spend using firefly for a whole campaign and it just looked like fever dream sludge after three days. the second they stop paying actual designers, everything starts looking like uncanny valley garbage. lol.

the 'uncanny valley garbage' part is exactly what happened with my last tech client. they thought they could just pipe everything through a generative workflow to save on retainer fees. ended up with a series of linkedin posts where the product itself looked like melting plastic. nobody commented because everyone was too busy laughing at the distorted textures in the background. it's such a huge risk for a brand as big as the nhl. if they let 'agentic ai' handle the creative direction, the whole identity just dissolves into some generic corporate soup. i'm still cleaning up the mess from that last project.

The 'uncanny valley garbage' is exactly what happens when you lose all human oversight. I worked on a quick social rollout for a beverage brand last summer and the Adobe Firefly assets were so off that we had to scrap the whole batch because the liquid looked like thick oil. If the NHL lets an agentic workflow handle the fan-made stuff, they're going to lose all that organic grit that makes hockey actually look cool.
