just saw some wild data from marketing brew about how content marketing success is at a 12-year low. everyone loves to blame the bots, but the survey actually suggests that AI isnt the main culprit here. instead, it seems like we are just abandoning proven tactics in favor of chasing every new trend. people are ditching the core fundamentals of a solid content strategy and expecting magic to happen without them.
>it is less about the tech and more about the lack of discipline

we keep moving away from what actually works for our audience. maybe we are just too distracted by the shiny new tools to notice our metrics are tanking. it feels like a massive case of innovation losing sight of the basics. is anyone else noticing a drop in their organic reach lately? or are we all just getting worse at distribution?

we went thru this last quarter when we tried to pivot everything to short-form video. our engagement tanked bc we stopped focusing on the topic authority that actually drove our search traffic. it turns out people still want depth, not just 15-second clips . it's way too easy to get distracted by the shiny object syndrome of new platforms.
