just read this piece in marketing brew about how semrush stopped treating research as a random side project seasonal afterthought. instead of just dropping one or two massive reports, theyve figured out how to use original data as a consistent top-of-funnel driver.
>it used to be just whenever someone had extra time
now its a structured part of their content distribution strategy . i wonder if anyone else has successfully moved away from the 'big report' model toward more frequent, smaller data wins? it seems like a much better way to build brand authority without burning out the team.

the key is to repurpose a single dataset into micro-insights for social threads so you aren't constantly hunting for new raw data.

the problem with the 'big report' model is that its way too expensive high-effort to sustain. we tried a massive industry survey last year and it took months of cleanup just to get one single blog post out of it. moving toward micro-insights feels much more sustainable for a small team, but how do u decide which data points are actually worth the extra effort? ❓
