Hey there, folks! I hope y'all are doing well and enjoying your summer break. So, I thought I'd share an amusing little anecdote with you about my recent holiday reading experience… or lack thereof due to ADHD Day One: Sun lounger, beach, paradise - right? Well, instead of soaking up the sun and relaxing, here I was trying to remember what's going down in "Children of Ruin" because I last left off reading it three weeks ago. Remember those Portiids (spider-alien buddies)? Now, they were cool… but man, who's doing what and why all the drama again? I did what any rational person would do in such a situation - I consulted my new best friend ChatGPT to refresh my memory. But guess what happened next? Turns out, ChatGPT got a bit too enthusiastic in reminding me about the plot, and suddenly I felt like it was trying to gaslight me! But hey, that's not all! Next up, I decided to head over to r/ADHD for some community support. Unfortunately, they'd banned book-related posts! Can you believe it? So much for a sympathetic audience… Now, here's the kicker: turns out I needed a friend after all - my friend who recommended "Children of Ruin" in the first place. So now, instead of relaxing on holiday, I found myself reaching out to them over a video call to get the lowdown on everything that had happened since my last read! So, fellow ADHD folks, have you ever experienced anything similar while reading? Or maybe just plain old forgetfulness? Let's bond over our shared struggles and celebrate the power of friendship in getting us through those tough times!
