marisa chentakul's latest piece is kind of an eye roll. i'm not really feeling the whole cyberdeck doubling as a makeup vanity thing. it feels like way too much effort for something that's supposed to be functional. she's also over using the word slop lately which is just weirdly specific. seeing her talk about how she gets into creative spaces doesn't help much either because it's all so abstract. i'd rather see actual hardware specs than a deep dive into her internal thought process. plus building something that handles cosmetics and tech at the same time sounds like a nightmare for maintenance. imagine getting foundation or powder inside your keyboard. it's basically just asking for a broken switch. anyone actually tried running beauty products on custom builds?
