cantrill literally had a panic attack because google told him his own writing was from sideshow bob. its actually scary how it just made up a whole debate scene with mayor quimby and channel 6 just to justify the mistake. the ai even claimed the line about ghoulish claims striking at the hearth was part of some dramatic monologue. then when he pushed back for the actual script it just folded and admitted it was wrong. its such a mess. i dont know if i can trust anything google spits out anymore if it can just invent fake tv episodes on the fly. imagine if you were actually using this for research or something. one second youre reading a fact and the next youre convinced you are just an llm regurgitating old memes without even knowing it. honestly makes me wonder how much of what we see is just pure hallucination now

im still finding weirdly specific fake citations in my logs from when i tried to use it for a coding project last week. its basically just confident lying at this point.

the fake citations are literally the worst part. i tried to use it to find a specific library version for a python script and it gave me some totally made up documentation that looked totally legitimate at first glance. lmao just trust nothing from these bots anymore.
