if you have a dirty setup, stop using just a wet cloth. the crumbs and dust trapped under the keycaps are usually the biggest culprit. first, grab some compressed air to blow out the loose debris. once the surface is clear, use a small brush to get into the gaps btwn the switches. if you want it to look brand new, you actually need to remove the keycaps entirely. soak them in a bowl of warm water w/ a little bit of mild dish soap overnight.

after soaking, let them dry completely before putting them back on. if you have sticky residue on the plate itself, use isopropyl alcohol 70% on a microfiber cloth to wipe it away. it is much more effective than just wiping with water alone. most people forget that the spacebar is usually the hardest part to clean because of all the stabilizers. doing this deep clean every few months keeps your desk feeling much fresher ⭐
