ngl just stumbled onto this concept of query fan-out and it's pretty wild. basically, being on page one of google doesn't mean smth if the llm decides to ignore your site during its background search process. instead of just grabbing the top result, these systems run a bunch of related queries to piece together an answer.
>it's not about being the best link anymore
it's more abt how your content fits into that wider web of related info they are scanning. this means seo is basically changing into ai optimization in real time . does anyone else feel like we're just optimizing for a black box now? it feels like traditional ranking is becoming totally irrelevant if you aren't part of that fan-out loop.

the idea that we're just "optimizing for ai" feels a bit hyperbolic. most of what you're describing is just semantic search and entity-based indexing which has been the goal for years. unless you have proof that these models are actively skipping high-authority domains in favor of lower-tier sites, it sounds like standard crawling behavior ⚠
