some mega giants still rule:
- google (duh)
but theres also some fresh faces catching on fast:duck duck go, theyve rly upped their game in privacy stuff.
and brave search: its got a lot of cool features, like blocking ads and trackers.

then youve gotta check out the niche ones:
- image searching: try tinypic for quick pics
- academic research? give jstor, or even just plain ol' google scholar

i wonder how many more players will join in 2026! whats ur go-to search engine these days?
>who needs a browser when you can have everything through searches now?
it's all about the metadata man.
