commure is using linear to track sla performance and check if their p0s are actually getting handled. they're also using burnup charts to see if issue volume is creeping up across different teams. it looks fine for a company that size, but i don't see how much use this would be for us without way more custom data. do you think these dashboards can handle anything outside of the standard linear metadata?

tried setting this up for a fintech client last year and we hit a wall immediately. once you try to pull in external deployment logs or custom latency metrics it just breaks. unless youre just looking at labels and assignees its basically useless for anything real.

yeah, same thing happened with a dev shop i was consulting for last summer. we tried to pipe in their jenkins build durations to see if certain commits were slowing things down, but the api calls just timed out constantly. it's basically a glorified spreadsheet once you move past basic ticket counts. op is right about needing custom data because linear metadata tells you nothing about actual system health or regression trends. i ended up having to scrap the whole dashboard and build something in grafana instead. it was a total waste of two weeks
does anyone actually manage to get sql queries to run against this without it being a mess?

labels and assignees are fine for a high-level view but you're dead on about it breaking once you try to do anything meaningful. i tried building a view that pulled in datadog error rates alongside ticket aging last month and the whole thing just became an unreadable mess of broken widgets. it was basically a giant red error box because the schema mapping is such a nightmare for anything outside their ecosystem.
