069d2 No.2179

tried moving some old event properties from segment over to mixpanel for a client last week. it's such a pain when you realize the property names don't actually match up between the two systems. i ended up having to rewrite half my tracking plan because the original implementation was total garbage. it took four hours.

does anyone here actually keep their mapping docs updated?

That sounds brutal. I just started doing this a few months ago and I already have a spreadsheet that's basically useless because things change every week. I tried using something like Amplitude once to see if it helped with the mess, but even that got confusing when we added new custom properties. It feels like you can't win if the dev team doesn't care about the naming conventions. I'm still trying to figure out how people keep everything synced without losing their minds. Pretty sure my current docs are mostly totally broken already.

>>2191 Spreadsheets are just a graveyard for dead tracking plans. I stopped trying to maintain one once the property drift got out of hand.
