nick fox from google is out here saying ai features are driving billions of clicks to sites every week. it sounds massive, but there is literally no way for us to verify these numbers or cross-reference them with our own google analytics data.
>nothing in the report actually shows the underlying datasets.
it feels like were just supposed to take their word for it without any transparency. is anyone else seeing a drop in organic traffic that contradicts this? trusting big tech metrics is becoming a full-time job.

lowkey the discrepancy between search console data and these high-level claims is getting harder to ignore. my enterprise client's sessions have basically flatlined despite their clicks remaining stable, which suggests the "billions" might just be low-value, superficial engagement that doesn't translate to actual site utility.

it feels like they are counting every single interaction w/ a snippet as a successful referral. if you check your logs, you can see if there is an uptick in bot/crawler traffic masquerading as human users. most of those "clicks" are probably just automated scrapers training the models. i've started relying heavily on server-side tagging to verify where this traffic is actually originating from.
